Shop 2018 Volkswagen Atlas: Volkswagen hopes to put Dieselgate behind it and generate more U.S. sales with its new 2018 Atlas. This 3-row crossover offers a generous amount of cargo space as well as a new fully transferable 6-year/72,000-mile warranty, plenty of options, and an enjoyable driving experience. Fuel efficiency isn’t great, and the nav system isn’t either, but because the Atlas can support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a smartphone could be helpful with navigation.Chris Wardlaw tested an Atlas SEL Premium with a 3.6-liter V6 that produces 276 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque, but Volkswagen plans to offer 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder with 235 hp and 258 lb-ft after a short production delay. Both engines pair with an 8-speed automatic, and while the V6 can be had with front- or all-wheel drive, the 2.0-liter will offer only FWD. Wardlaw found the Atlas’ handling and braking confidence-inspiring despite its heft and calls the seating in all three rows surprisingly comfortable. I test drove this along with the Pilot, Sorento, CX-9 and MDX. The Atlas felt underpowered, it feels like it needs another 30hp and the seats where not comfortable at all even in the SEL premium. The infotainment screen was nice but the digital cockpit didn't compare to Audi's version. The pilot and MDX have the 9 speed transmissions which were always gear hunting and jerky. The MDX hybrid has a different transmission which was nice but it was 19k more full equipped and can't tow anything. I ended up getting the Mazda CX-9 signature for the handling, interior, fuel economy and paid 40k. If I was going to spend 50k I would test drive the MDX hybrid if you don't need to tow or spend a little more and get the Audi Q7 or Volvo XC 90. If 30-40k is your budget I would look at Mazda CX 9 or Kia Sorento. Sorento is probably the best value out all mid size SUV as long as you don't need a ton of space for the third row or cargo.

Thanks! I am going to buy one tomorrow. I have a 2016 Ford Explorer with a carbon monoxide leek. Ford said they would fix it. My friend at a different for dealership said they can't always fix it. I asked ford to take it in trade and I would take a new 2017. Ford said no. So I said here is yoiur fkg care and tomorrow i will buy the Atlas. Thanks for the review.

bad vehicle no gauges no oil pressure, no volt meter, no coolant temp, no trans temp, no tpms that shows actual tire pressure basic car at a luxury price 22 on highway and 17 city if you are lucky. you can get a dodge hemi with better mileage
