The 2013 Buick Encore is a compact luxury crossover based on an Opel vehicle called the Mokka. This all new model is built on GM's Gamma II Platform which also includes cars like the Spark, Sonic, and Cobalt. The Buick Encore has seating for 5 passengers and combines technology, luxury amenities, and a fuel efficient engine into one reasonably priced sub-compact crossover with the base model costing $24,200.The 2013 Buick Encore is a handsome little CUV in a class that is growing quickly. The stylish Encore is uniquely positioned as the only luxury entry among sub-compact crossovers. The 1.4 liter turbocharged engine makes 138 horsepower and 148 lb-ft or torque. The Encore is equipped with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The small engine results in good fuel economy ratings of 25 MPG in the city and 33 MPG on the highway.The Encore rides well for a short wheelbase crossover and is also extremely quiet. The exterior design may catch your eye but it's the luxurious leather interior that will win you over. There is a whole lot of style in this pint-sized CUV. The 2-tone leather upholstery with contrasting stitching really delivers the feel of luxury. The Encore has all the bases covered when it comes to technology. The Buick Intellilink Infotainment system is located in the dash and provides a whole myriad of services including Bluetooth phone, satellite radio, navigation, weather, and more.The 2013 Buick Encore can't really be compared to anything currently on the market. The handling is excellent and the car is Very Quiet — such a Pleasure to drive! I love the Blind Spot Alerts built in to both of the outside Rear View Mirrors and the Cross-Traffic Alert for the Rear Vision Camera System for backing up — an advanced Side-Scanning Radar system that warns you of traffic that's coming at you before it comes into the view of the Rear Vision Camera image. The warning comes in the form of a Blinking and Beeping Red Triangle that appears on the side of the video display from where the traffic is coming at you. Though this Cross Traffic Alert feature was formerly introduced on the 2015 models — I was so excited to find that it was included on the end of the 2014 model year vehicle, which I got a great deal on as a brand new vehicle in my dealer's show room. The turning radius is incredible and the overall driving experience is WOW! — Remarkable! Do I sound excited? You Bet I Am — about my 2014 AWD Buick Encore!
